HEAVY-GRAIN ZINC

Heavy-grain zinc is a pretreatment conversion process that involves the electrodeposition of zinc onto a metal surface to create a heavy and dense layer of zinc. This process is commonly used for the preparation of industrial and military parts since it provides a high level of protection against corrosion and other forms of degradation by placing more sacrificial zinc on the surface.

Compared to fine-grain zinc treatment, the coarser coating of heavy-grain zinc makes it ideal for applications exposed to harsh environments, such as military equipment and machinery used in demanding industrial environments. The heavy-grain structure of the deposited zinc creates a more durable and longer-lasting coating, which helps to improve the overall performance while providing greater abrasion resistance. As a result, heavy-grain zinc pretreatment often extends the service life of treated metal parts.

For less demanding applications, Sub Source also offers fine-grain zinc pretreatment.
